How the fox and the bear were brewing the beer together

When the fox and the bear kept household together they brewed beer once. But they had only one barrel to keep the beer in. Now they began to think about how they would share the beer. Fox found that they could put a tap on the bottom of the barrel and a tap in the middle of the barrel. So they had to drink from separate taps.
- I can take the lower tap, - said the fox, - for this is where all the residue is collecting.
The bear had nothing against it, so he took a sip now and then. The fox was drinking from a barrel much more often. At times he would lay on his back and kicking with his legs.
- If you'll continue drinking so often, your half will be finished sooner, - said the bear to him.
- I think not, - replied the fox. My throat is so narrow, so I drink only a little at a time. It's different with you. When you gulp down, you take a liter at a time.
One fine day when the bear would drink from his tap the beer was over. But Fox only laughed and said:
- Waste not, want not.
